When it comes to choosing the right audio speakers for your home, you want to make sure that you take a few different factors into consideration. The speakers you choose for your room really depend upon the physical space where you are putting them.

Factor #1: The Size of the Room

The first factor you need to consider is the size of the room. This is one of the most common factors that the number and type of speakers you need is based upon. The size of the room can make a real difference in the performance of your speakers.

You need your speaker system to match the size of your room. For example, a large speaker system in a small room will overload the room, generally with bass sound, and create an unpleasant, murky sound. In a large room, if you don't have enough speakers, the sound does not feel like it is wrapped around you.

Factor #2: Types of Walls

The type of walls matters as well. If the walls are really tall, sound will carry differently in the room that if the walls are really short. If the walls are short, you have to worry about not overwhelming the space with too much sound. If the walls are really tall, you may need more speaker power to fill the space and to avoid the echo effect.

The type of wall you have matters as well. Drywall versus paneling versus cement walls all absorb sound waves differently and will have a different impact on the way that the sound is carried through the space.

When you discuss the size of the room with the audio store, be sure to address the height of the wall as well as the material the wall is made out of, as both of these components will impact the way sound is carried in the space.

Factor #3: Speaker Location

The third factor you need to consider is where you want to place the speakers. Do you want to place the speakers on stands in the corner of the room? Do you want to place the speakers inside of furniture, such as inside of an entertainment cabinet? Do you want to put the speakers in the wall or ceiling?

Where you want to put the speakers will impact the way that they sound and the speakers that you should purchase for your space.

When it comes to purchasing speakers for your space, the size of the room, the size of the walls, the material the walls are made out of, and where you would like to put the speakers are all factors you need to consider when picking out audio speakers for your room.
